A La Card Monkey #82

Just a quick post today as there is a monkey playing the bongo drums in my head again (migraine) =/ I really wish he would leave.

This card is for this weeks sketch over at A La Card Monkey

The cool part is that I was chosen as a guest designer for my Double Thanks cards! Yay! So I'll be a guest designer in a short time again =)

I crimped the piece of Early Espresso going through the middle for some texture. I also stamped the leave image in a light color (Pool Party) and stamped the words in a darker color over it. This was my first time doing this technique.

Ok I'm outta here and hopefully the monkey in my head will stop and go to sleep....

{Paper} More Mustard, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Spice Cake DSP
{Ink} Pool Party, Early Espresso

Double the Thanks

I think the following cards are my favorite yet. The reason why you ask? The ribbon! I colored it myself.

Since I'm kinda still acquiring a stash of Stampin' UP! stuff I only have 2 rolls of ribbon. One is the satin ribbon I got in my starter kit and the other is this 1/4" grosgrain that I just ordered. One day I will have more ribbon but now, I will save some money and color it myself. I just simply took a sponge and got the color ink I wanted onto the sponge and just ran it over both sides of the ribbon until it was dark enough of a color that I wanted. Easy, peasy.

The big scallops are also just 1" circles cut in half and adhered to the edge.

I used the sketch at A La Card Monkey this week and honestly I wasn't sure if I could come up with something, but I did and they are very fallish.

Ingredients: All items SU!

{Stamp} Blue card: Baroque Motifs, Tiny Tags; Green Card: Alphabet Soup (retired), Tiny Tags
{Extras} 1/4" white grosgrain ribbon, jewelry punch, 1" circle punch, bakers twine, pearls

Deck the Halls

A quick card today, it was super easy thanks to punches and circle cutters.

I used the CardPatterns 140 sketch and turned it on it's side. The card started out like the sketch but something about the balance of everything just looked cooky so I turned it.

I was so proud of my wreath! I keep looking at all kinds of punch art on Pinterest but honestly I don't want to spend the time to punch, cut, and adhere little pieces of a punched piece. Lazy, yes. Now this wreath was super easy! Scalloped circle punch and 3/4" circle punch and ta-da....easy wreath =)

Ingredients: All items SU!
{Paper} Early Espresso, Old Olive, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White, Letters to Santa DSP
{Ink} Riding Hood Red
{Stamp} Merry & Type
{Extras} 1 3/4" scallop circle punch, 3/4" circle punch, flower from Itty Bitty punch pack, scalloped edge punch, circle cutter, dazzling details
, whisper white bakers twine

MOJO #213

It's Sunday! It's raining! The only thing more perfect is if tomorrow were a holiday and I didn't have to go to work =)

I'm feeling a little craftier this weekend so I've been making some cards. I really need to be making my Christmas cards but I keep avoiding making them like the plague. I just don't wanna do it, maybe I won't send any out.....yeah that won't happen but I threaten every year.

I love this Spice Cake DSP in the Holiday Mini catalog. I didn't get it at first, but I gave in. I'm so glad I did, the combination of colors is just so warm and inviting. Very fallish.

Sketch comes courtesy of MOJO Monday #213

I embossed the More Mustard piece on a texturez plate and then rubbed it on my More Mustard ink pad to make the embossing stand out. It was my first attempt and I kinda like the way it came out. I also kinda snapped my C plate for my Cuttlebug in the process. But I'm ghetto and glued it right back together! Who needs to buy something new when you have E6000 glue and some vices?!

It's sporadically raining here today in SoCal so I'm staying in, avoiding the crazy drivers and enjoying the coolness. Oh and the Chiefs game =)

Happy Sunday!

Poppy Goodness

This migraine still has my head feeling like its in a vice so I thought maybe making a card or two might get my head feeling better......yeah didn't happen. But I did make a card I'm kinda happy with =)

I made it using the Monkey Sketch over A La Card Monkey and then realized I was too late for the challenge, eh, the story of my life, a few hours short.

It's Friday so hopefully my day can go fast so I can get home and rest this weekend. My goal, to be able to feel normal again without the monkey in my head banging on the bongo drums =)
