Double the Thanks

I think the following cards are my favorite yet. The reason why you ask? The ribbon! I colored it myself.

Since I'm kinda still acquiring a stash of Stampin' UP! stuff I only have 2 rolls of ribbon. One is the satin ribbon I got in my starter kit and the other is this 1/4" grosgrain that I just ordered. One day I will have more ribbon but now, I will save some money and color it myself. I just simply took a sponge and got the color ink I wanted onto the sponge and just ran it over both sides of the ribbon until it was dark enough of a color that I wanted. Easy, peasy.

The big scallops are also just 1" circles cut in half and adhered to the edge.

I used the sketch at A La Card Monkey this week and honestly I wasn't sure if I could come up with something, but I did and they are very fallish.

  2. Two cards to look at - that's great!
It's hard to say which one I like most, they're both beautiful in their own way.

  3. Great job on both your cards! I like the way you saved money by colouring your own ribbon. Very creative! TFS.

  4. Those cards look great! I love that you cut circles in half for the scalloped edge look. Great job, too, on coloring your ribbon with ink! Thanks for taking part in our challenge.
