If You Love Bakers Twine.....

....boy is this post for you!

So I was stalking some blogs the other day and wound up over at the Frugal Crafter. This was my first adventure to this blog and let me tell you, I am hooked. So many awesome ideas.

It's no secret that I love bakers twine and SU! finally has is. I have now learned how to make it myself thanks to
THIS post at the Frugal Crafter. Is it perfect? No But it does look cute!

In the picture, the blue and yellow are made out of SU! Baja Breeze and Daffodil Delight markers. The Red/Orange is made from a Sharpie marker. The Sharpie actually looks better because the ink bled all the way through the cotton thread whereas the SU! marker didn't, although I tried it just didn't work.

Needless to say I think I may be making a trip and hoarding all Sharpie markers I find so that I can make different colors =)

Have a great weekend!

Redemption

So after yesterday's utter disaster of a card, I would please like to redeem myself =)

This may be my favorite card ever. I tell you this is my favorite stamp image of all time, have you noticed? Hehe So I used the sketch over at Diva Coffee Break #225. I flipped it sideways 'cause you can do that, and well, I couldn't think of any ideas with the sketch the "correct" way.

**Side Note Tangent**
So I got SU! Many Marvelous Markers set for Mother's Day....my Hunny & kids are awesome aren't they?! The kids don't realize what they bought me =)

Anywho, the whole reason I wanted the markers was this set, to color the boards different colors. I have a new favorite color combo....yes this one if you didn't get that. I had to add baker's twine because it is the most awesome thing in my craft room right now. Maybe tomorrow I'll share my new find, and yes it involves baker's twine!

Ok, I'm done rambling for the day! Happy Friday Everyone!!!!

Ingredients:
{Paper} SU! Baja Breeze, Peach Parfait, Very Vanilla, DSP Brights
{Ink} SU! Markers Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Baja Breeze
{Stamp} Summer Splash, Target $1 section foam alphabet stamp set
{Extras} Bakers Twine, 1/4" hole punch

My Blonde Moment Card

Weird title I know, but wait till you hear the story. (Kristin, this is for you!)

So I make the card, not my best, this I know. Just doesn't "hit" me. Anywho, I have an epiphany....baker's twine! Because baker's twine makes any card better right?! So I wrap the twine around the card, look at it and think "yay, much better".

Then I go to open it, duh it doesn't open, but I can't figure out why. I didn't adhere it wrong....after a few minutes it hits me, duh the twine. (Enter the blonde moment if you didn't get that) So I shook of the blonde moment off, punched a 1/16" hole at the top of the fold and ran the twine through and tied the ends.

Tomorrow, trust me I have a way prettier card that includes my favorite.......SURFBOARDS! Plus it's Friday which makes everything better =)

*I won't share the ingredients because this is not a very good looking card, but a funny story*

The Last Image

I did it! I used all the images in the Summer Splash set =) First time ever I think I've done that. This bucket isn't my favorite but it made for an easy peasy card.

Short and sweet today, I'm late posting which means I'm running out the door!

Ingredients:
{Paper} SU! Poppy Parade, Very Vanilla; DCWV Stack 7
{Ink} SU! Basic Grey, Pacific Point
{Stamp} Summer Splash
{Extras} Nestabilities scallop circle, braiding twine

Postal Blue

Just a quick share today. I made this card for one of the office's in our district for getting 100% on a review! Trust me it hardly ever happen but the person who did it is a wonderful person and does a great job helping customers =)

In great postal fashion I used Pacific Point for the "postal blue" and added my Changito monkey's. The original stamp had "Happy Birthday" in the frame but I used my SU! markers and just didn't color in that part. After I stamped the image I masked off the frame, used my retired Mini Messages set and stamped celebrate in the middle. The star brads are from Targets dollar section last year.

Alrighty I'm off to work, hope everyone has a great Tuesday =)

Here Comes Peter Cottontail!

Happy Easter!

The eggs have all been found (except for 1 real one outside, I hope we find it before summer comes) and the kids are on their expected sugar high.

Here's my cards I made for the kids' teachers. The top bunny is made out of punches: 3 med oval punches, 1 1/4" circle, 1 1/2" circle. I sponged the edges with ink to make the bunny stand out more.

This one is out of punches too =)

Clouds from the cupcake punch, eggs from the large oval and the grass is cut from my Silhouette. I stamped background images on the eggs and used Heat & Stick powder to adhere the glitter.
Hope everyone has a fantabulous day!

Got Fish?

Ahh another Saturday is here =) I wish weekends were longer but at least it means sleeping in and no work...YAY!!!

So here's my fishies out of the Summer Splash set available May 1. Aren't they cute?! Now you really can't tell but if you click the picture and make it bigger you might.....I used my old Fiskars embossing plates (bubbles), ran it through the C-Bug and it looks like the fish are in the water.

Now the string at the bottom is the *NEW* bakers twine also available in the Summer Mini! This is the white and all I did was sponge it with Poppy Parade ink until it was completely covered and I liked the look of it.

I came up with the color combo because in my drawer of DSP these 3 were on the top....presto instant bright color combo.

Ingredients
{Paper} SU! Whisper White, Brights DSP, Sunny Garden DSP
{Ink} SU! Poppy Parade, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight
{Stamp} SU! Summer Splash
{Extras} SU! Bakers Twine white, Fiskars embosing plate BUBBLES

More Surfboards

Don't ask me why but I'm in a surfboard mood. Every card I sit down to make a surfboard comes to mind and I've never even been surfing! Maybe the SoCal life is creeping up on me....ha ha now that's a scary thought.

I've loved this scrapbook paper from DCWV when I first got the Stack 7, until now I was afraid to cut into it. (Because if I cut it, then I won't have it if I REALLY NEED it)... I know, I'm weird like that =)

The sketch is super easy and fun from Card Patterns #111

Ingredients:
{Paper} SU! Real Red, DCWV Stack 7 DSP
{Ink} SU! Basic Black
{Stamp} SU! So Happy For You
{Extras} Brads

Occasions Carryover

Snappy the Turtle

So in my quest to use all the stamps in this set, I share with you today.....Snappy the Turtle. Yes, I named him. I can do that 'cuz I'm cool like that and like to name things. I'm still thinking of a name for my owl punch, if you have any good ones let me know =)

Normally I'm not a turtley person, we had one as a pet but we won't go into what happened. Needless to say Tommy the Turtle is no longer with us =( but anywho, that was many moons ago and Snappy is here and very cute I might add.

The sketch is courtesy of clean & simple #136. All the stamped images are from the Summer Splash set. I just used Versamark for the stripe of Old Olive to give it a background-y look. I also sponged the edge of the Tempting Turquoise strip. I'm not a good sponger but I'm trying....notice the "sand" Snappy is on?! Yes SPONGED! See, I really am trying! And guess what?! This was the first time I used Melon Mambo paper....I am such a hoarder I didn't realize I had it, how sad is that?

It's Wednesday which means closer to the weekend! YIPPEE!!!!!

Ingredients:
{Paper} SU! Basic Black, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive, Whisper White
{Ink} SU! Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
{Stamp} SU! Summer Splash

I've Been A Bad Blogger

I have no other reason for posting other than losing my "umph" yes it was gone, it still isn't back all the way but I'm trying. I had my few things I ordered for my Summer Mini preorder and no "umph" to do anything.

I finally drug myself into my room and used Eat Sleep Stamp sketch #126 for some inspiration. On this one I used my surfboards (only 3 outta 5). This is the whole reason I got this set! The arrow going down I ran through the crimper a gazillion times to soften it up and look weathered. And check out that baker's twine....I'm so excited SU! has baker's twine now! Everywhere you look baker's twine is being used. It's nice that it coordinates with SU! colors =)

Have a great Tuesday!

Ingredients:
{Paper} SU! Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Pacific Point, Whisper White, Celebrations DSP
{Ink} SU! Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Chocolate Chip

Sheesh! It's only Monday and I'm already behind. Late posting, late getting ready, hopefully I'm not late to work ;)

Here's my card I made for the Creative Sketches CS27 challenge. I used the NEW POSTAGE PUNCH!!!! The punch comes with a stamp set but I didn't get it because, it just wasn't "me". I did the same thing with the cupcake punch in the Occasions Mini, bought the punch but not the set and I love it!

Can't wait to use this punch more, you know me and anything postal....I gotta have it =)

Anywho, have a great Monday!

Interior Decorating

Ok, I know I already posted a post today but I can resist showing you what I just finished!!!! Here's the BEFORE:

And now the AFTER: (Not 100% done. I want to add "STUFF" along the top w/my Silhouette)

I saw THIS post over at Tatertots and Jello a month ago and knew I wanted to do it. Problem was I couldn't find a corkboard that was used. Thanks to the wonderful Goodwill in the next town over I found it last night and for only 99 cents....how cool is that?!

I had the fabric from when I redid my dining chairs during vacation. I added ribbon in the middle because under the ribbon is the seam. If I had measured right when I did my chairs there wouldn't be a seam, but that's a whole other post in and of itself....don't get me started. It ended with a staple flying out of the staplegun and dinging a plate. See, you really don't wanna know.

And here are my dining chairs. Wonderful friends gave us our dining set for free! They had roosters, which don't get me wrong are cute, but just don't scream "Jennifer" so I bought some fabric, had it sit in my laundry room for 8 months and the re-did the chairs. Apparently 8 months is a suitable time frame for me to get energetic and to this =)

Now my goal is to make some cards today.....

Floating Octopus

One thing I promise is that I have never ever once thought about buying an octopus stamp. Cross my heart, pinky promise......never ever! Personally I'm not a fan of octopie (is that the correct plural???), they look creepy and they are verrrrrry slimy, yeah not for me.

In the new Summer Mini there's a stamp set that's beachy, I bought the set for the surboards (trust me, you'll see this stamp SOON) nothing else, just the boards. You see I have some surfboard scrapbook paper and had a *~vision~* of this perfect card =)

I made a deal with myself (pretty crazy huh) that I would use the other stamps in the set before I used the surfboards. This way the other stamps won't feel neglected, hey at least they get one use right?....I know, I have issues.

Since I didn't want stamps to get neglected I started thinking about my neglected paper colors. I bought Peach Parfait to go with the Garden DSP, but I honestly don't usually use it. So I popped out the neglected paper and went to work! (Used the sketch from ESS #125)

The bubble background is actually a bubble gum stamp from Victorine Originals and I did the wavy embossed paper with a Fiskars background. The bubbles coming from the octopus is actually in the set. I stamped it with Versamark, added clear embossing powder and colored over it with a blue marker and rubbed the ink off, giving it just a subtle hint so you know something is there. Notice the corners? Yup did those myself, so glad I learned how. Makes adding elements super easy and everything matches.

Since it's Saturday I get to do nothing! Well in theory at least =) Have a fun weekend!!!!

So True

I'm a hoarder of paper, I've said it before and I'll say it again. Yesterday I was so glad I live in CA because I got my Summer Mini Preorder!!!!!!! I about did cartwheels when I got home and it was here =)

There is some goodies in that Mini and I got a punch....a super duper triple layer punch! Yes it's awesome and be prepared to see more of it. So my paper hoarding finally paid off, the paper I used here matced exactly to the new punch image *SCORE*!

I bought the stamp on clearance a while back at Mike's and just hadn't found a card to use it on, the statement is SO TRUE though!

Since today is Thursday, I only have 16 more hours this week of people who have misplaced anger yelling at me.....have a good one everyone!

Ingredients:
{Paper} SU! Pear Pizzazz, ??brand DSP, DCWV paper stack peach
{Ink} SU! Pear Pizzazz
{Stamp} Hampton Art "Drive You Crazy", Stampabilities dots
{Extras} SU! Triple Layer Punch.....you need this!!!!, brads

I Love Some Blog Candy!!!!

Who doesn't like free stuff right?! All you have to do is go to A La Card Monkey and enter! It's a brand new Weekly Challenge Blog, and we all know how I love my challenges =)

....I can't. That's a lot of rambling about cards as my DH would say!

Spring has Sprung! At least here in SoCal it has. What better way to celebrate but with this cute bird {Sketch courtesy of Eat Sleep Stamp} =)

One of my co-workers brought her Cricut magazine (bad, bad, bad for me 'cause now I want it) and I got in a Cricut mood this weekend. She also gave me the Cricut Birthday Cakes cartridge...(she's so awesome and crafty too, I have great co-workers) so I was on a mission!

I had this bird paper from a Recycled DCWV stack and the bird matched perfectly. I also learned I can use my Fiskars embossing plates in my Cuttlebug....wahoooooooo (so I dusted them off) I was one happy camper =) I even added some "bling" on the hat. Very simple and easy.

Ingredients:
{Paper} SU! Baja Breeze, Real Red, DCWV stack
{Extras} Ribbon, crystal, Cricut Birthday Cakes cartridge

Wow...I'm back, I hope. After nearly 2 weeks of a migraine it's subsided....I think/hope! So I thought I'd do a nice easy card, something I didn't have to think about too much =) I played along with CardPatterns for the sketch and Off the Wall Craftiness for the colors.
