Star Spangled Thank You

This card was originally made to be a Thank You for one of my customers that sent me something. Well, I didn't like it and the pieces just sat on my desk for months. I finally finished it and it turned out not so bad.

Do you ever start cards and not finish them?

Ingredients: {Paper} Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White, Twitterpated DSP {Ink} Cherry Cobbler {Stamp} Alphabet Soup (retired) {Extras} Stars #2 die, Pattern #1 texture plate

Tiled Flowers

I've been going through my pile of cards on my desk and have realized that I have quite a few that I've made and just didn't get around to putting up on the blog. Here's one of 'em....

This one is for MOJO Monday #238. I used the Postage punch to make the tiles. In my OCD-ness it took FOREVER to align these tiles and they still aren't perfect =(

Ingredients: {Paper} Whisper White, Island Indigo, Rich Razzleberry, Summer Smooches DSP {Ink} Rich Razzleberry, Tangerine Tango {Stamp} Bright Blossoms, Tiny Tags {Extras} Itty Bitty punch pack, Jewelry Tag punch, Postage punch, Brights brads, Lucky Limeade bakers twine

A Clean Duo

I love last years new In Color Pool Party. It is very versatile and a very clean subtle color. I used Pool Party and So Saffron as they were the Dynamic Duo colors for challenge #2 this week. I also used the sketch at Clean & Simple.

Part of Dynamic Duo is that you use the 2 colors plus any neutral colors. To add more depth to this card, I embossed it using the Petals a Plenty embossing folder with Whisper White cardstock. Then, I took a sponge and gently went over the raised embossing with So Saffron ink. This is such an easy technique to give a lot of depth to a normal pieced of embossed paper. To give it some "oomph" I also spritzed Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz on it.  (I love this stuff)

Ingredients: {Paper} Pool Party, So Saffron, Whisper White {Ink} So Saffron, Versamark {Stamp} Happiest Birthday Wishes, Mixed Bunch {Extras} Petals a Plenty embossing folder, Blossom punch, sponges

New Color Combo

In the spirit of playing along with new challenges, I'm playing along with the Paper Players colour challenge and Card Patterns for this card.

I've been following Ann Schach for eons now and always see her card for the new challenge. The color combo this week was AMAZING! I would have never thought to use Baja Breeze, Poppy Parade and Daffodil Delight together. I'm almost sad that Poppy Parade is retiring because I finally found some use for it!

{Paper} Baja Breeze, Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight, Brights DSP, Twitterpated DSP, Sunny Garden DSP (retired) {Ink} Soft Suede, Poppy Parade {Stamp} Baroque Motifs, Tiny Tags {Extras} 1/4" Whisper White grosgrain ribbon, Itty Bitty punch pack, Buttons #5 die, Whisper White bakers twine

New Challenge Blogs

First, Happy Mother's Day to all the Mommies out there! I got woken up to my annual breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast with jelly. The kids love it and so do I. Then I got to see the gifts they made at school that they've been wanting to tell me about for a week =)

So onto the card. I've found a couple new challenge blogs and so that's the inspiration for todays card. There is a new Dynamic Duos color challenge blog in which you only use 2 colors and can add only neutral colors to it. Very "up my alley". I was late this week but I'm ready challenge #2 already! Freshly Made Sketches has been around awhile but this is the first time I've played along because the sketches I usually play with didn't hit me with inspiration this week. You know, gotta spice it up every once in a while!

Here's the card.....

If your a mom I hope you have a very enjoyable day! And even if your not....still have an enjoyable day!
