Mandatory

That's it, I call for mandatory 3 day weekends from now on...anyone with me?! Good!

This was a much needed wonderful weekend. I got so much accomplished, and hey I even got a card made =) Nothing fancy just cute. I love the color combo too. Slowly but surely I've been adding colors to my SU! cardstock. I just ordered Crumb Cake (seen here) and I'm glad I did, it beats using Whisper White and Very Vanilla for most of my cards.

I also used the new Triple Layer Blossom punch and added some bling to the flowers.

Ok I'm off to deal with Tuesday, but it's ok, it's only a 4 day work week and 9 working days till my official VACATION!

Ingredients:
{Paper} SU! Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Melon Mambo, So Saffron, Baja Breeze
{Ink} SU! Basic Black, So Saffron, Baja Breeze, Pear Pizzazz

Lookey What I Found

OMG! Look what I found at Funky Polkadot Giraffe {insert screams here} Anything with giraffe in the title is awesome! {I will one day own a giraffe named Marty, I'll save that post for another day} Anywho, I dowloaded and printed it and put it in a vintage frame, vintage as in it came from my grandma's house 40 years ago =)

What I've Been Up To

I have finally got some things checked off my To Do list! No, not cards but just decorative things I've been wanting to do forever =) So here they are! Today I'm hoping to do some papery crafts.....

For the top I just used a frame I got at the swapmeet, cut different fonts from my Silhouette and used my Xyron machine to stick 'em all in place. Total cost about $1.50
The summer banner is pennant pieces cut and letters cut out of my Cricut using "All Mixed Up" cartridge. I used random flower and brads I had on hand to gussy it up a bit. I strung it all together with some lacy stuff I got at a garage sale for a nickle. I also cut out some flowers with my Sidekick and ran it through my Xyron to stick to the candles in the hurricane candle holder. Total cost about a buck.

We've been watching this hat rack for about 6 weeks at the local Goodwill. It was originally 79.99 and gold...eeeew! Finally after haggling, my Hunny got the hatrack for 9.99 and I painted it white...much better! In theory there will be no more backpacks or jackets on the floor. Yeah, yeah I know I'm fooling myself but hey, it's worth a shot =) See the corners of the pictures on the ground? $5 at the swapmeet (30x36) and I can't wait to put 'em up!

These are my favorites! This one is printed 8x10 and can be found here at Simply Fresh Designs. Again, swapmeet frames that cost a buck!

When I saw this one I had to have it! It is so our world...you can find it here at Taidye Originals. It prints in 5x7 so I added a piece of SU! Rose Red cardstock and you can't really tell the difference.

For the life of me I can't figure out why Blogger didn't like this picture, it should be rotated clockwise, which I did but Blogger uploaded it the crooked way. Oh well, you get the point. I love the Frugalcrafter and when I saw this tutorial, I had to make it! It's a Ribbon Shelf (duh) I was only able to find a 20x30 piece of foam core at Dollar Tree so that's what I used. I improvised and it really fits my needs and my shelf =) I don't have many spools of ribbon so now I've gotta find something to do with my loose stuff now. Maybe I'll print some spools from here and add to the sides =)

And that's it folks...see, I have been doing stuff =)

Knock, Knock

Who's There?

Me, that's who!

Yeah I know I went MIA for a while. I got sick, like bad sick, the kind you lose 10 lbs in 3 days, then took some time to recover and so here I am, back again =)

I've only made a couple cards since I've felt better and those aren't "show your stuff for the world to see" cards 'cause they are kinda not good.....so I decided to go with some frames I made a while back. The first I cut Cricut images out of the Birthday Cakes cartridge. Had I paid attention I would have flipped them so they matched the pattern on the paper. Oh well, I'll pretend I was going for the "opposite look".

This one was easy peasy, just add paper and ribbon and your done!

I've done frames before but I've realized there's an easier way than what I used to do. I used to put Modge Podge on the frame then cover in paper and after it was dry cut around the frame. Then I decided that didn't work and cut the paper first then Modge Podged it. Now I'm all for Modge Podge, great stuff, wonderful even, but for frames I despise it!

I now use spray adhesive and I love it! Here's the steps in case you want to try it to:

1) Paint edges in desired color with acrylic paint. Don't forget inside edges. Let dry
2) Cover painted edges with painters tape. This way edges won't get spray adhesive on them.
3) GO OUTSIDE! Spray adhesive on the frame where you want the paper.
4) Carefully, very carefully lay your paper where you want it. You don't get much of a second chance so make sure you put the paper where you want it the first time.
5) Smooth out the paper making sure there are no bubbles.
6) Cut around edges with x-acto blade.
7) Sand edges so paper is smooth.
8) Display a cute fun picture of anything you want =)

Not using Modge Podge makes the whole process so much faster because there is no drying time.

Happy Wednesday...the week is halfway over and a 3 day weekend is just ahead!

It's Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there and if your not a mom.....Happy Sunday to you! Not everyone has kids and that is perfectly cool with me =) I woke up to breakfast in bed made by the kids and it was delicious, steak and egg sandwich by the girl with the help of Daddy with a side of toast and jelly made by the boy. D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!

Since yesterday was National Scrapbooking Day did you make anything? I sure didn't, I went shopping for stuff though =) I started out at the new scrapbook store I heard about and I walked in and walked right out. It was jam packed, wall to wall people and I had a mini panic attack so I rushed back out to the truck and got a crazy look from the DH.

Plan B was to go down to Chino because THE Prima flowers company was having a HUGE parking lot sale. Plan B was awesome! It wasn't packed, I didn't feel suffocated and I got some great stuff for cheap-o prices. Mostly from the $1-$3 range the only thing more expensive was the paper pad for $10. If your in the SoCal area you should really check it out....very nice staff too =)

After Plan B, I attempted to go back to the local store but I had already been freaked out and couldn't find anything. I just don't think I'm a "social butterfly". I'm good shopping online, blogging, but when it comes to in-person things I freak out. Perhaps that's why I like SU! so much, I can peruse the catalog at 3am and not wonder if the store people are irritated because I'm not buying anything. Does anyone else have this problem? Probably not, I'm a little strange.

Today I will definitely be making something, maybe cards, I might try a scrapbook page or I might cover some baskets the DH got for a quarter at Target with some fabric. It's "my" day as the kids told me so I just want to relish in the fact that I was able to have kids =)

Have a great day no matter what!

Added more bling than usual on this one, trying to stretch outta my comfort zone still.

Surfin' Flowers

I like when challenge's mix together and make a pretty card don't you? I thought so =) I used Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge #115 and ColourQ challenge #83....I smooshed them together and came up with this bright cheery card all ready and rearing to go for summer fun!

The punch is from Martha, 'cause I got it for $1.00 when Wal-Mart clearanced out her stuff down here from their stores....gotta love me a bargain =)

My next personal challenge is to use the new punches I got that are in the Summer Mini. I haven't had the courage to make anything with them yet really, but I've been stalking some very cool blogs and have gotten some awesome ideas!

Have a great Thursday....one day closer to the weekend!!

Flower Power

Normally I don't do wedding cards, just don't like weddings. The only good thing that happened at mine is I got my husband and gained his daughter =)

When I saw the C&S sketch I wanted to do something bright and cheery, well it turned into this. Which isn't bad, it's really pretty actually but a little bland for me. The Chocolate Chip rectangle borders are made from the Stampin' Write markers. The thin outside border is from the writing tip and the thicker inside border is from the coloring side. Then I punched different colors of flowers and layered them. Check out those pearl accents...workin' on my bling skills....oooooooh yeah!

If nothing else, I have it in an emergency for a wedding card....

Happy Wednesday!!

Teacher Appreciation

Yes, I know what in the world am I doing posting so late in the day? Well I spent all morning making these cute clipboards for the kids' teachers!

Now it took me all day because I slept wrong on my neck, cricked (is that how you spell that) it and now I can't spend more than 3 seconds looking straight ahead 'cause it hurts like the dickens.

I saw this really cute tutorial a while ago for a paper-covered clipboard and after looking and looking yesterday for it I couldn't find it, googled THIS one and I actually like this version rather than the first I saw.

I didn't use Modge Podge like the directions said because I didn't really have any little paper pieces and I like spray adhesive better. Everything else is pretty much the same.

In theory I wanted to do something little everyday and then lead up to this big gift at the end of the week. Yeah, don't think that's gonna happen soon. I always think of way cool ideas but they never pan out the way it does in my head. Anyone else have that problem? It's like while I'm at work I think of all these really cool ideas and then by the time I get home, they all escape on the drive back.

Ok, I'm gonna lay on the couch and add more cards to my Etsy store.....Have a peek HERE!
